Santa Catarina is a Lisbon neighborhood built on a hill, with its famous Santa Catarina view point and the statue of the mythical giant of Lusíadas; that’s also why it is known as the Adamastor view point. This space was recently renovated, with a green area to enjoy the characteristic panoramic view over the river. The old houses, that preserve the original architecture, have been object of several renovations for new residents.
Bica is almost exclusively made up of Rua da Bica Duarte Belo, the street where the famous “Elevador da Bica” goes up and down. This elevator, built in 1892, used to help residents in the transportation of water and goods. These two points are the most prominent of the neighborhood; they are connected by the Calçada do Combro and next to Chiado. It is the most prestigious and cosmopolitan area of the capital.
