As of January 2024 the Portuguese Government will not accept new applications for Portugal’s Golden Visa Scheme via the purchase of a Freehold property.

However, applications for the Golden Visa continue to be open through investment into Portuguese registered Risk Capital Funds that are regulated and approved by the Comissão do Mercado de Valores Mobiliários (CMVM), a regulatory branch of the Bank of Portugal.

The minimum investment is 500,000€ for a period of up to 8 years with each Fund offering different Returns on Investment (ROI)
